01How to use the Temperature Converter
- 01Type the temperature. Negative values are allowed.
- 02Choose its unit.
- 03Read the same temperature in the other scales.
02Temperature formulas
°C = (°F − 32) × 5/9 °F = °C × 9/5 + 32 K = °C + 273.15 Absolute zero = 0 K = −273.15 °C = −459.67 °F
03Examples
72 °F = 22.22 °C, a comfortable room temperature.
−40 is the same in Celsius and Fahrenheit.
100 °C = 212 °F = 373.15 K, the boiling point of water at sea level.
04Frequently asked questions
Why can’t I enter a value below absolute zero?
Absolute zero is the lowest possible temperature. Nothing can be colder than 0 K, so lower values are rejected.
Why is there no degree sign for Kelvin?
Kelvin is an absolute scale, so it is written simply as K, for example 300 K.
Is there a quick way to estimate °F from °C?
Double the Celsius value and add 30. It is close for everyday weather temperatures but drifts at the extremes.
