unless they are first or last
Sentence case capital letter at the start of each sentence
Capitalize Words capital letter at the start of every word
tOGGLE cASE swaps upper and lower case for each letter

03Examples

“the lord of the rings” in Title Case: “The Lord of the Rings”.

“HELLO THERE. HOW ARE YOU?” in Sentence case: “Hello there. How are you?”

“war and peace” with Capitalize Words: “War And Peace”.

04Frequently asked questions

Which title case style is used?

A general style close to AP and Chicago: short function words stay lowercase. Style guides differ on details such as prepositions of four or more letters.

Will Sentence case keep names capitalised?

No. Sentence case lowercases everything first, so proper nouns need fixing by hand. The word “I” is capitalised automatically.

Does it work with accented letters?

Yes. Upper and lower case follow Unicode rules, so letters such as é, ß and ø are handled.
